Nat Martin is one of the most highly regarded blues and fusion players on the British circuit. Nat’s heart lies with The Blues, but he expands on this palette within his own music to encompass a wider harmonic range by way of Jazz and Soul music, as well as the rhythmic elements of Funk.
He is joining the tutoring team at Guitar Weekends and will be starting with a suite of three blues evenings for beginner to intermediate players across June and July 2026.
We will be running a free meet the tutor evening from 8pm on May 20th where Nat Martin and Andy Moore will discuss Nat’s love of blues, his playing style, teaching and what he has store for us with his upcoming three online lessons, ‘Building Blues Lead Guitar Vocabulary’.
You can find out more about Nat’s career as session player, blues specialist and tutor on his tutor page.
This first group of three lessons will focus on ‘Building Blues Lead Guitar Vocabulary’. These sessions are a comprehensive dive into the wonderful world of blues guitar. For all guitarists wanting to start improvising or simply improving their understanding of harmony and the guitar, blues is one of the best places to begin. You can keep it super simple but still sound great, or delve deeper and create fantastic music along the lines of Gary Moore, Robben Ford, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton.
Most modern pop and rock music has its roots in the Blues, and it’s therefore the perfect place to start.
This free evening will be a chance for our Guitar Weekends friends to meet Nat and hear about his first course. You’ll be able to ask questions and hopefully feel that you’d like to join us for some fantastic blues evenings.
These live, interactive sessions cover a clear syllabus with development between each session. While we advise booking all three sessions as a group (cheaper option) you will be able to purchase individual sessions if you prefer.
We’ll explore the core techniques you’ll need to master Blues as well as useful knowledge to help apply them and cement everything with bespoke exercises to build into your practice.
Nat is one of the UK’s best teachers so it’s an honour to have him join the team.
