Being able to solo successfully is something most of us would love to do. But being able to groove, develop harmony and mix in licks is something the professionals need to do. It makes you a fuller player and lets you sit in a band, accompany a singer or just sound huge with very little. Having a player like Nat Martin show you how to do it is a gift. Nat’s mastery of blues and its associated music has led him to become one of the most highly respected players in the country.
In this series you’ll learn the formula to becoming a far stronger blues musician leaving you with the knowledge to create your own progressions, songs and jam tracks.
We had a good giggle filming these.
This session is all about the groove, how to master it and how to make it sound cool. We don’t need big chord shapes or complicated rhythms, what we need is feel, accuracy and some simple shapes. You’ll learn to think more like a drummer, segmenting down the rhythmic qualities of the bar, using some varied techniques to create something that sounds highly musical, is fun to play and makes an audience tap their foot.
In summary we will;
Nothing is rushed in these sessions. We take our time to clearly explain everything and give you ample opportunities to ask questions or get help to understand something even better.
This session focuses on moving away from your standard I, IV, V chord sequence and adding in those chord voicings that elevate your playing.
In summary you will;
In this final session of series 2 you’ll learn how to intersperse licks within your groove.
In summary we will;
Series one covered learning how to solo using blues vocabulary. It is an excellent opening series for anyone serious about learning how to understand and eventually master their soloing. Based primarily on the minor pentatonic, the course used three lessons, building on each lesson to showcase what each of you can really achieve. You can watch the summary video below and buy the course using the following link. Don’t worry that the event has already occurred, you can still purchase the series. Once you do, we’ll email a link to watch the 3hrs of lessons, plus any accompanying materials.
• You can purchase all three lessons as one course. This is the advised option as the lessons develop on each other to give you an in-depth practice regime. It’s also cheaper at £50 for all three lessons.
• Purchase lessons individually at £20 per lesson.
