Learn an example of the rhythm guitar style of Scotty Moore using the classic driving rhythm part and solo from ‘My Baby Left Me’.

What will we be covering?

“When I heard Heartbreak Hotel, I knew what I wanted to do in life. It was as plain as day. All I wanted to do in the world was to be able to play and sound like that. Everyone else wanted to be Elvis, I wanted to be Scotty.”
… Keith Richards

We’ll be learning an example of the rhythm guitar style of Scotty Moore using the classic driving rhythm part and solo from ‘My Baby Left Me’.

In the mix are: use of the slap back effect, grace note slides, triple stops, open strings and syncopated picking on a I IV V chord progression.

This part can be played either fingerstyle with, or without, a thumb-pick or hybrid picked using plectrum and fingers.

Who’s this session suitable for?

High Beginner to Intermediate acoustic or electric guitar.

You should know basic barre chords and have some fingerpicking under your belt.
