Overview

We’ll focus on core techniques and know-how for rock and its sub-genres:

• The role and diverse use of power chords
• Techniques a dexercise for palm muting, vibrato, hammer-ons and pull-offs, bends
• What are riffs and how the work
• Play straight, accented and boogie 12 bar
• Essences of great lead playing
• How to set up your equipment to get the best rock sounds; from plectrum to guitar, through pick-ups and leads to pedals and on to your amp

• Access to a Zoom recording of the full session. Using YouTube’s speed facility it’s possible to review the whole course in detail at your leisure.

Course suitability

This course is for average-and-above acoustic and electric players. It’s an online course and so players of most ability will get something out of the session and you’ll have materials to support your home practice.
