The first weekend we had
in November 2001 had six
songwriters on it and by Sunday Lunch time we had six songs recorded
onto cassette tapes with Cathryn and Brian supporting the songs. Since
then we have had two more weekends with similar results and one student
having produced a CD. |

How to book a weekend.
|
|
This
weekend is especially geared for the solo/duo
singer/songwriter/performer/musician. Whether you want to prepare for a
floor spot at your local folk club or local plug and play, put more
polish on that song for the family wedding or even if you would like to
pursue your performing on to a more professional level, then let us
share our years of experience to help you reach your goals.
Cathryn is a natural educator and will help to inspire you to produce
something that you can feel proud of.
Brian and Cathryn will focus
on
1)
basic song structure ("You Put A Chorus WHERE?")
2)
lyrics and melodies
("Didn't Paul McCartney Write That
Already?")
3)
arrangement ("Where Does A Bass Solo Belong?")
4)
accompaniment ("I'll Sing/You Play")
5)
performance ("Getting Used To Being Scared")
You'll be amazed at how much improvement a little professional
advice can add to your creative adventure. It promises to be a fun and
helpful weekend with lots of road stories thrown in culminating with a
group concert on the Saturday night.

| Cathryn Craig is a songwriter
and Brian is an accompanist, between them
they will help you write and perform your own material. You will need to
bring with you material that you are working on so that we can get one
song to finish and perform over the weekend. This will be put onto
cassette for you to take home. |
| Message
from Brian and Cathryn
"The sense of achievement you feel from finishing and then
performing your own song is hard to measure. All we can tell you is that
we have both worked extensively with celebrated songwriters, but our
greatest job satisfaction comes from playing our own songs and having an
audience appreciate them.
On this course, our only requirement is that you bring enthusiasm and an
instrumental / lyrical idea and we will help you to complete it. We will
show you how to craft the structure of your song, whatever musical style
or genre and help you with your confidence skills to enhance your vocal
or instrumental performance.
Previous songwriting weekends have been fun and fulfilling and every
songwriter has left with a finished song, ready to perform. We offer
professional advice and it has been rewarding for us to be part of a
wonderful process...come and be a part of it yourself!"

Have
you ever stopped for a moment to imagine just how many songs, have been
written? Consider... many thousands of years of song writing, countless
millions of songwriters during that period... their must literally have
been billions of songs penned.
What aspiring songwriters need to do is stop and ask themselves this
question: "What can I do to make my songs stand out from all the
others?
