Lee Hodgson,
Country Weekend
International demonstrator
for Vox amps and guitars and Yamaha guitars.
Guitar Institute teacher & assessor.
International Guitar Foundation (IGF) tutor.
Featured tutor for a wide range of Lick Library DVDs and
streaming videos.
Just a few of the credentials for Lee who takes on his
first guitar weekend this year.
He's
played thousands of gigs, including tours with a Number
1 pop act! and has been a
professional guitarist since 1979.
He is mainly known as a country picker although
he actually plays
many different styles, often featuring MIDI-guitar
(piano, strings etc.). He also
sings lead & harmony vocals.
Having been playing on the
British country scene since 1987, appearing with Memphis
Roots at Wembley Arena and the Royal Albert Hall plus
countless clubs, festivals etc. He
continues to play UK country
festivals with the Steve Cherelle Band.
Currently gigging on a regular basis with a
rock'n'roll/60s band, Benny & The Jetts.
He has also done plenty of
jazz-funk, pop & soul gigs too, including tours with
chart-toppers Odyssey and George McRae, and Top 10 act,
Bobby Thurston – an after show party gave
him the opportunity to jam
with Stevie Wonder's Wonderlove! He
has been a magazine columnist and transcriber for
Guitarist since the mid-80s and for Guitar Techniques
since 1994. He's written a
book, 'Hot Country', plus writing
chapters for 'Guitar: a Complete Guide For The Player'
and 'Play Acoustic'. In the education sector
he has written courses for
Diploma and Degree level, plus two grade pieces (Grade 1
& Grade 5), which are validated by Trinity College of
Music.
Teaching-wise, He joined
London's Guitar Institute teaching faculty in 1990 – the
school is now part of The Institute of Contemporary
Music Performance. He is a
long-standing tutor for the International Guitar
Foundation (IGF) and has also
made several DVD tutorials for Lick Library, and one
project that he is
particularly proud of is acting as host and playing
alongside one of his heroes,
Albert Lee.
He now has
his own "channel" at
licklibrary.com and has done
many sessions, including hundreds for GT, as produced by
Phil Hilborne.
If you want to know about Country Playing then here is
your chance to come on a complete guitar weekend break
dedicated to that genre of playing.
