How to book a weekend
|
|
You
do require to be a more advanced player for this weekend with a
reasonable knowledge of chord and scale structure as related to
the guitar. You should be able to play a few chord progressions through
and know a couple of standards e.g. Autumn Leaves, Misty or something
like that. We will look at improvisation, holding the chord progression
in your head and chord and scale substitution. With Adrian's help you
can analyze your playing technique and find out what you need to be
doing to improve it. We work to the level of the people attending the
weekend.

| Adrian studied with Barney Kessel and Howard Roberts. He has obtained
fellowships in classical guitar performance from Trinity and London Colleges of music and
an MA in music education. Whilst at Leeds College of Music the guitar department under his
direction grew to be one of the largest in the country. |
| Adrian has written the biography of Wes Montgomery and the history of
the Gibson 175, as well as many articles and books on playing the jazz guitar. Plenty of
handout material will be available over the weekend to add to your folder which you will
have to take away at the end of the weekend. It is a good idea to bring a small tape
recorder with you to record sounds and examples from Adrian to aid memory after the
weekend. |
