Are
you an aspiring songwriter as well as a singer? Do you want to know how to
write a song; and how do you make it stand out from the rest, even how to
accompany that song? A weekend with Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby
could be just the answer. Both are songwriters and singers in their own
right and have been touring together internationally for some time. Both
have CDs out and work individually as well.
|
Cathryn is a busy session singer working in Nashville and has
worked with Bobby Bare, Emmylou Harris, Shel Silverstein, Bob Gibson,
Jorma Kaukonen and Tom Paxton to name but a few. She is a truly
international star having toured all over the world. Her CD, ‘Porch
Songs’ has received great critical acclaim.
ROCK’ n ‘REEL magazine,
“This is quite simply a
beautiful album, displaying a sophisticated songwriter at her potent
best…. unparalleled intimacy between listener and performer, blurring
the boundaries of country, blues and acoustic folk…seductive,
charismatic and magnificent.” |

Brian who hails originally from Northern Ireland has played on
the folk scene for many years His
agent at one time was Jasper Carrott, who later became one of the UK's top
comedy acts. After starting at the White Bear in west London and having
his own folk club at the Regent Street Polytechnic Brian at age 22 toured
for a year with the Strawbs across many countries. After spending time
with other notable bands Brian then teamed up with his old mate Dave
Cousins (The Strawbs) and formed an acoustic partnership and recorded two
albums together. Brian Currently tours with the Strawbs around the world
as well as recording his own CD “Black and White” which
has Cathryn Craig and Mary Hopkin on it. |

This
weekend is especially geared for the solo/duo

floor spot at your local folk club or local plug and play, put more polish
on that song for the family wedding or even if you would like to pursue
your performing on to a more professional level, then let us share our
years of experience to help you reach your goals. |
|
Brian and Cathryn will focus on
1)
basic song structure ("You Put A Chorus WHERE?")
2)
lyrics and melodies ("Didn't Paul McCartney Write That
Already?")
3)
arrangement ("Where Does A Bass Solo Belong?")
4)
accompaniment ("I'll Sing/You Play")
