 Hi Folks

Yep we are into another year, and it's a leap year which should give you an extra days practice time. It's a huge year for us here at Guitar Weekends. New venues and fresh teaching ideas all to help you improve your playing and get more fun out of it. As a matter of fact for my weekends at Beckfoot in February and March I am offering the chance to come midweek before the weekend to have a bit of extra tutoring and time to practice without interruption. This is mainly for the guys (& Gals) coming on the weekends but if you have not experienced Guitar weekends yet and want to come up and check us out mid week how about coming for a days visit and see what we do. Just give me a call or email me if you are interested. Tel 01931 713241

I have one place left on the Rock Improvers weekend at Beckfoot, 30th of March. This will be the last weekend at Beckfoot apart from maintenance weekends.
The only other two spaces at Beckfoot are on the Strugglers Weekend on the 9th of March and by way of a sweetener I have a special offer for this newsletter of £45 off a Strugglers weekend with Lin Flanagan so get in quick before they go.

  DATES          NEW VENUE

Special off, quote 'BeckJan12' to get £45 off March 9th Strugglers weekend.

Rock & Gear Improvers Country

On May 4th we are off to the Cotswolds for our first Strugglers Weekend there. I have just done a photography weekend course at the new venue and Lesley my wife did a Singing course, it was great. Excellent food, brilliant accommodation and stunning views, not that a guitar weekender would notice the views. We have our own block of accommodation there together with the teaching lounge so we won't disturb anyone or be disturbed and we can go on till late. On any one of our weekends you can do over 20 hours of playing (watch out for sore finger tips).

You have been telling me to find a venue for the weekends in the South for some time and now we have it. I’m really excited as it is in a superb location and the amenities there are excellent. It’s a dedicated learning centre with purpose built conference rooms and all en-suite bedrooms with study areas. This won't be our only venue though as we are actively looking for a venue in the North, more news on that front in future newsletters

Maintenance

Maintenance weekends will continue in the Lakes at Beckfoot in our purpose built teaching unit with all the required tools, work benches and of course tutor Chris May who has his 'Overwater Guitar' factory nearby in Carlisle. This particular course does not lend itself to being mobile so we have kept it at Beckfoot at the moment. The April course is full with students coming from as far away as Greece for the weekend course. All being well our next course will be later in the year. As we are getting students returning for more courses we have now added Maintenance Two where you will be carrying out a re-fret. Don't worry we will supply the guitar if you want.

Gigs

Our old mucker Jim Hornsby (Ex Country Weekend tutor) has a great Country band you should go and listen to, 'Diesel Therapy'.
Check out the gigs on the 10th (The Cluny, Newcastle) and 25th (Arnside, Lancs) of February.       http://dieseltherapy.co.uk/gigs/

Our Rock weekend tutor Eddie Allen has put a 3 piece acoustic band doing classic rock with great harmonies. He is looking for venues in the North to get to. Any ideas?

Some Items For Sale

There are still some items for sale on the web site, old Fender memorabillia (solid silver). A black Fretlight Guitar in ex condition and a few amps.      'For Sale'

Best regards to you all
