GUITAR WEEKENDS

BASS WEEKEND with Neil Harland   The ultimate Guitar Break

We don't have a Bass weekend with Neil planned at present email me if interested in a bass weekend.
(We take One Bass player in the group on Strugglers; Improvers; and Blues and Rock weekends.) this is a great opportunity to play along with other guitar players and improve your bass playing techniques.

What you can expect to learn on this weekend and as bass player on other weekends

This weekend is about learning to play Bass Guitar, it's designed to improve your playing no matter what level you are currently at.

It will show you the route to improving your bass playing ability by planned practice, and exercises.

How to construct and play good bass lines, grooves and bass rhythms.

You will learn some great techniques in bass playing and the ability to produce a good rhythm related to the music being played.

Recognize key and time signatures and to make a start at reading the dots.

Try out playing Techniques in particular styles e.g. Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Soul, pop and Funk

Playing in different keys and transposing between them.

How to work out and learn the chords for particular tunes or songs.

Playing in different time signatures.

Work out a piece to play within a small group and perform it.

This is a very practical hands on weekend with lots of playing.

We will work through plenty of Tunes (songs and instrumentals) in varied styles.

Plenty of chances to play along with prepared tracks.

We plan to get you playing the bass, although we will cover some theory.  It will be what’s required to enable you to take advantage of the material taught over the weekend,

There is a place on each of our other weekends (Except Django) for a Bass Player as well.

Gents,

Just to say thanks again for a fantastic weekend I much
appreciated your experience, musicianship and teaching skills.  I will be putting what we learned into practice starting this week - got a gig next weekend, so I'll see if I can make the rest of the band (and the audience!) hear the difference.  Malcolm, the whole experience is great, including the food.  My wife says I have to de-tox for a week to make up for the
over-indulgence (and I didn't even tell her about drinking you out of Stella).

Not even a hellish 5 hours on the M6 and M1 was able to dampen my enthusiasm, so I guess that says something.

I would definitely be interested in repeating the experience next year, including the suggestions we discussed for the Saturday night session.
Looking forward to it already.  (Although it would be good if you could move the whole of the Lake District about 3 hours south.)

Best wishes,

Steve
